Welcome to The Miracle Database
An Indexing of God’s Work Throughout Church History.
This site experienced its genesis in the spring of 2010. While it is still under construction, my prayer is that it will ultimately be a resource for those seeking primary sources which document the thousands of miracles which God has done in centuries since the close of the book of Acts.
More than simply retelling the historical accounts my desire is that it will be a place for those doing research into the topic of miracles to find detailed bibliographic documentation of the historical accounts as well as an accessible list of the secondary sources which treat the topic of the miraculous in greater detail.
The Miracle Database exists to…
gather together the primary resources which document God’s miraculous works throughout Church History. It aims to pick up Augustine’s passion, so evident in City of God 22.8. The Bishop there recounts and records the miracles he has witnessed in his day in order to build up the faith of those who followed the Lord Jesus. It is my hope and prayer that this site, by collecting and organizing historical miracles, will do the same for those in the Church of the 21st Century.
Along with inspiring faith, the miraculous acts of God throughout history ought to drive all those who follow so great a God to worship and praise. Leaving the task of apologetics to others, this project is undertaken for the benefit and blessing of the children and the kingdom of God.
It is therefore oure hope that as you read these accounts you will not credit to men and women that which is rightly to be attributed to the Almighty. They were merely instruments which God used for His glory. My prayer is that you would allow the testimonies of these servants of the sovereign God to point your eyes back to their master, the one in whom all faith is rightly placed and to whom all praise is truly due.
